This post contains images of how the place looked before we started... think of it as a recap of what we had to deal with in the beginning.

The original floor, basin and bath.

Horrible colour scheme in the bathroom. Not a good look.

The toilet was dull with faded wallpaper. The 'tired' look of the main bedroom.

Ripping up the carpet and removing the old fashioned wallpaper.

Almost looks like a bomb has the hit the place here.

Have a look at that wallpaper.

This is what we had to deal with in the basement.

Graffiti and just some of the junk we had to dispose of.

The faded deck and scuffed front porch.

Overgrown vegetation in the backyard.

Original view from the front.

Development With The Painting Work

It's been a week since our last call and I still can't see the finish line. I had to get another week off from work to knock off the remainder and pull my wife off to help me with the paint work. Pressure is on and I'm feeling it now!

Sure there's still lots of things to do but here's what we have finished in the past week and what we still need to do:

  • We used the new sprayer to paint the sides, back and front of the house
  • Started making and putting on the fly screens
  • We will finish off the painting inside and outside including the window sills
  • I decided to just buy flat packs to put in the bedroom instead of building built-in wardrobes
  • I've got to build a balustrade
  • Still to do the sanding and staining of floors
  • I have to take care the mound of sand from the old above-ground pool that they had

Nearly Finished Front Facade

We have nearly finished painting the front and only a few tiny bits around the windows are to be done. We have to get a scaffolding or an A frame to finish it off.
