AT A GLANCE

First property investment:  A property in Sydney’s Kings Park in 1988

Property investing goal: To fund a profi table retirement

Best investment: Volunteer work with SISTER2sister

Leanne Pilkington has long been a mainstay of the NSW property market. Since buying her fi rst property 31 years ago, she has become the face of the Real Estate Institute of NSW as its president, while also serving as the managing director of Laing+Simmons.

While property is Pilkington’s path to a secure fi nancial future fi lled with travel and excitement, this property maven currently fi nds joy in the little things – specifi cally, her “little sisters” in the SISTER2sister mentoring program.

“Property is what I invest in for my future, but my volunteer work with SISTER2sister is what I invest in for my present,” she says.

Pilkington has been part of the program for a decade now, and says it has been a great source of inspiration for her.

“To be a mentor to disadvantaged and troubled teenagers, and to help support others to become mentors, is very rewarding,” she says. “I get a huge amount of satisfaction from my relationships with the girls, as well as all of the other incredible mentors within the program!”
